FAQ

Disability & NDIS Support

Who do you support?

We have experience supporting adults living with psychosocial disability, complex mental health challenges and mild to moderate intellectual disability.

We understand that everyone's needs are different, and we take the time to understand the individual rather than simply focusing on a diagnosis.

Are your support workers qualified and trained?

Yes! Yes, we take pride in providing safe, reliable and high-quality support. All our support workers undergo relevant screening and hold training and certifications appropriate to their roles, including NDIS Worker Screening Checks, First Aid and CPR where required.

We also prioritise ongoing training and professional development to ensure our team has the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide person-centred care tailored to each individual's needs.

Do I need an NDIS plan to access disability support?

No. While we support NDIS participants, our services can also be arranged and funded privately.

If you're unsure which option applies to you, get in touch and we can talk through your circumstances.

Do you provide Support Coordination?

No. Manaaki Pathways focuses on delivering direct, one-to-one disability and daily living support.

We are happy to work collaboratively with your existing Support Coordinator, allied health professionals and wider support network.

Can you work alongside my existing support team?

Absolutely.

We believe good communication and collaboration are important. With your consent, we can work alongside your Support Coordinator, occupational therapist, and other professionals involved in your care.

Can I choose what I do during my support hours?

Of course! Your support should reflect your goals, interests and everyday needs.

Whether that's preparing meals, attending appointments, getting out into the community, developing new skills or maintaining your home, we'll work together to plan support around what's important to you.

How much do NDIS supports cost?

NDIS-funded services are charged in accordance with the applicable NDIS pricing arrangements and your agreed service agreement.

We'll discuss pricing, travel and any relevant charges with you before supports commence.

What happens if I need to cancel a shift?

Our cancellation arrangements are outlined in your service agreement and explained during onboarding.

We understand that circumstances can change, so we encourage you to let us know as early as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Private Home Support

What is Private Home Support?

Private Home Support provides personalised assistance for older people and adults who would like a little extra help with everyday life while continuing to live comfortably and independently in their own home.

Support can include personal care, companionship, meal preparation, shopping, appointments, transport, household assistance and regular ongoing support.

Do I need an NDIS plan or government funding?

Not at all!

Our Private Home Support services can be arranged and paid for directly by individuals and families.

You don't need an NDIS plan to enquire about private support.

Can I arrange support for my parent or loved one?

Absolutely.

We regularly understand that it is family members who first reach out when someone they love needs additional assistance.

We're happy to have an initial conversation with you and arrange a meeting with your loved one to understand their needs, preferences and how they'd like to be supported.

Can you provide support after surgery or a hospital stay?

Yes. We can assist with everyday, non-clinical support while you recover at home.

This may include assistance with meals, personal care, shopping, household tasks and transport to appointments.

We'll discuss your individual needs to ensure the support we provide is appropriate and consistent with any relevant discharge or recovery instructions.

Do you provide nursing care?

Our current Private Home Support services focus on non-clinical assistance delivered by support workers and personal carers.

If you require clinical nursing services, please let us know so we can discuss your needs and whether additional arrangements.

Can support be short-term or ongoing?

Both!

Some people need temporary assistance following surgery or a hospital stay, while others prefer regular, ongoing support as part of their weekly routine.

We'll work with you to establish an arrangement that suits your circumstances.

How much does Private Home Support cost?

Our private support pricing depends on the type of assistance required, frequency, duration and timing of your supports.

We'll discuss your needs and provide clear pricing before any services commence, so you know exactly what to expect.

How quickly can support commence?

This depends on your location, support requirements and worker availability.

Following our initial conversation, we'll discuss your preferred commencement date and work towards arranging suitable support.

What happens if our needs change?
That's completely okay.

We understand that people's circumstances, routines and support needs can change over time.

We'll maintain communication with you and review your support arrangements when needed to ensure they continue to work for you.
